Mills College Art Lecture Series: Shinichi Iova-Koga

October 19, 2016
7:00 PM, Danforth Lecture Hall

Shinichi Iova-Koga will be speaking on the forces that shaped his 2015 performance work “95 Rituals” and the influence of Japanese avant-garde and traditional arts on his post-modern practices.  He has been teaching dance composition at Mills College since 2009.  He is the founder of inkBoat, a physical theatre and dance company that integrates musicians into the dance, asks dancers to speak, and regularly questions the boundaries between creative forms.  His work is featured in The 96th Ritual (for Anna Halprin) at the Mills College Art Museum from September 14-December 11, 2016.
